Edward Elvin Whitfield

Edward Elvin Whitfield, 81, of Hobucken went to his heavenly home Friday, December 9, 2022, leaving a mark on this world that his family is grateful of.

He was a hard worker, spending most of his time on the water recreationally and commercially. He worked for Dupont for 15 years then retired from the tugboat (Merchant Marine).

Edward was a jokester, always having fun and making nicknames for those closest to him. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Hobucken United Methodist Church while his health allowed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Marjorie Whitfield; son, Eddie Whitfield; grandson, Shai Whitfield; and step-daughter, Christy Voliva.

Edward is survived by his wife, Carol Whitfield; children, Mark Whitfield, Kim Hill, Kelly Montiel (Adam), Deborah Edwards, and Pam Hannah (Terry); brother, James Whitfield (Gloria); sister, Glenda Buck (Charles); grandchildren, Heather Montiel, Dillon Montiel (Lindaay), Janice Whitfield, Alexis Ireland, Coty Hannah, Justin Long, Kristen Lee, Brittany Cooper, and Ariel Moore; numerous great-grandchildren; and beloved furry companion, his dog, Bear.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
