In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Ann Stackhouse

A Life of Love, Compassion, Service, and Devotion

Elizabeth Ann Stackhouse, lovingly known as Ann, and formerly known as Ann Silver born September 30, 1952 passed away on October 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a legacy of compassion and service that will continue to touch countless lives.

Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated nurse, educator, and treasured friend. She possessed a remarkable ability to care for others, not only through her profession but also through the kindness, generosity, and love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Ann dedicated 52 years of her life to the nursing profession, earning her RN, BSN, and Master of Science in Education (MSEd). Her career began in acute hospital settings, where she provided specialized and compassionate care to critically ill patients. Her passion for nursing eventually led her into education, where she mentored future generations of nurses, taught clinical students, and directed an RN refresher program. Her dedication to nursing education and innovative approaches to patient care earned her a Nursing Excellence Award.

Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond the hospital walls. Ann helped organize Angel Flights, providing free medical transportation to patients who otherwise faced barriers to receiving specialized medical care. She believed deeply that everyone deserved access to quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances.

After relocating to Oriental, North Carolina, in 2008, Ann continued her lifelong mission of serving others. She devoted countless hours to volunteering at Hope Clinic, eventually joining its Board of Directors in 2025. She also served her community through PrimeTime Oriental, the Pamlico County food bank (PCFLO), Pamlico Methodist Church, the Sailing Club of Oriental, the Oriental Woman’s Club, Pamlico Corral and the Master Gardener program.

Faith was an important part of Ann’s life. She dearly loved Pamlico Methodist Church and the church family who held such a special place in her heart. Her church was more than a place of worship; it was a community of friendship, fellowship, love, and belonging. Ann treasured the relationships she formed there and found great joy in being part of a congregation she loved so deeply.

Although her professional accomplishments were many, Ann’s greatest joy and most treasured role was that of a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the heart of her world, and the love she gave them was immeasurable.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Charles Kirkland Stackhouse, and their children and families.

Her daughter, Kimberly Stackhouse Smith, and husband, Charles “Shane” Smith; grandchildren, Charles Kirkland Smith, and wife, Morgan Leigh Smith, Sarah-Katherine Smith, and fiancé, Caleb Robert Aman, Emily Claire Smith, John-Thomas Smith; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy Smith and Madelyn Smith.

Her son, Dr. George Reeve Silver Jr, and Ava Malissa Silver; and grandchildren, Ava Isabella Silver and George “Reeve” Silver.

Her son, Keith Linwood Silver.

Her daughter, Cara Marie Camaioni, and Charles Christopher Lively; and grandchildren, Reavyn Lee Lively, Camden Elise Lively, Jackson Shea Camaioni, Jacob Scott Camaioni; and great-grandchild, Niko Rodriguez.

Ann is also survived by her two brothers, Carl Linwood Franklin Jr., and his wife, Joanna, and Jerry Lee Franklin, and his wife, Darlene along with their families.

Ann was preceded in death by her loving parents, Carl Linwood Franklin Sr and Pauline Marie Franklin.

Outside of her dedication to family, nursing, and community service, Ann found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved biking and sailing with family and friends, tending to her beautiful plants and flowers, and losing herself in a good novel. She appreciated the beauty of the world around her and the special moments spent with those she loved.

Ann’s life was a beautiful example of what it means to serve others with purpose, love without limits, and make a lasting difference in the world. She spent her life caring for people, comforting those in need, teaching others, and giving freely of herself.

While her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the nurses she inspired, the patients she cared for, and the countless lives she touched.

To know Ann was to know compassion, strength, generosity, and love. Her hands spent a lifetime caring for others, and her heart made everyone around her feel loved.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
