Elizabeth (Betty) Mary Callahan was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 13th, 1936, to Thomas and Veronica Finnigan and passed away On Thursday, September 5, 2024. She married the love of her life, Donald Callahan on November 5th, 1957, and proudly served her community as a registered nurse.
Betty raised her four children, Beth (married to Carl), Amy, Donald (married to Jadwiga), and Matthew while traveling all over the world with the Unites States Army. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Kari, Megan, Ryan, Karolina, Abby, Jake, Kevin, Hayden, and Cole. As well as four great grandchildren: William, Joseph, Mira, James, and Sierra. She is survived by her brother, John Finnigan.
She is predeceased by her husband, Donald; brother, James; daughter, Amy; and grandson, Zachary.
Betty retired to Oriental in 1991, and she has been an active member of the community for many years. Betty volunteered her medical experience at the Hope Clinic and was an active member of her church, St. Peter the Fisherman.
She loved to read and spend time with her friends and family. Betty emitted love and light; she was a central part of her family and will be deeply missed.
Open services for a funeral mass will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental on Friday, September 13th at 11:30 am.
The family will receive friends from10:15 am to 11:15 am prior to the mass.
