Elwood Moses Lee, Sr. “Kingfish”

Elwood went to his heavenly home at 2:40 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at his home in Silver Hill, with his family by his side.

Elwood was born September 16, 1939, to Woodrow and Jennie Lee of the Silver Hill Community.

He was a member of Silver Hill Christian Church, where he served as an Elder and loved his Church family.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents; were sisters, Violet, Wilma, Reba, Joann and Hilda; brothers, Ralph and Douglas; and his puppies, Shorty and Little Bit.

Elwood was a truck driver, known as Kingfish and he made many friends over the years. He would often share with his family some of his trucking experiences, which provided some good laughs.

In 1981, he and Julia started J&E Trucking, Inc. and after some health issues the Inc. was dissolved, and he retired. He went back to work with Paul Farms and enjoyed these years with the Paul boys.

He drove dump trucks locally for Hunnings Trucking and Dillion Trucking and then had to take some time at home because of his health. Sometime later a friend asked if he would fill in a few days driving a dump truck for Two Boys and this lasted 7 years, ending on June 10, 2022.

Elwood is survived by sons, Elwood Jr. and Marty Lee; daughter, Jessica Stewart; seven grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish memories of their 40 years of marriage is wife, Julia Walker Lee; and their family, Charlene Almond of the home; grandson, Joshua Mason and wife, Heather; great-granddaughter, Harper of MD; step-daughter, Karan Almond of MD; and grandson, Ayden Earles of CA.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service following at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rex Horne officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to Paul Cemetery Fund, Hospice of Pamlico, or Pamlico Rescue.
