Esther Corinne Lewis Haynes

Esther Corinne Lewis Haynes, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Washington, North Carolina. Born in Ernul, North Carolina, Esther lived a life full of love, faith, and generosity. Her kind heart, warm smile, and welcoming spirit made her a friend to all and a pillar of strength to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Annie Lewis; children, Wanda K. Kinnion and Jerome A. George; grandsons, Jerome Toler and Elijah Scott; great granddaughter, Mercy Rain Scott; brothers, Alton Lewis and Donald Lewis; sisters, Bertha Rowe and Barbara Roelle.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Ireland, Teresa (Vernon) Silverthorne, and James R. (Sallie) Kinnion; grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Sammy, Ana Lynsy, Steven (Christine); siblings, Garland (Lois) Lewis, Danny Lewis, Ethel Newman, Helen Fleming, and Hazel Caroon; special cousins, Nancy and Julie; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.

A service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held at Christ Vision Church in Blounts Creek on Friday July 18, 2025, at 3:30pm.

Esther’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
