Evelyn Brickhouse Mckinney

Evelyn Brickhouse McKinney, age 92, resident of New Bern, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern, NC.

Evelyn was a member of the Bayboro United Methodist Church, past member of the Bayboro Fire Department and the Pamlico County Rescue Squad. She was also a member of the Bayboro Chapter of the Eastern Star. She spent many days substituting in the Pamlico County Schools, working in the County Public Library, and in the Emergency Department at the Craven County Hospital, she retired from Texas Gulf in Aurora, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell J. McKinney; parents: Mary and Simey Brickhouse; brothers, Cole and Jack Brickhouse; and son-in-law, Raymond D. Slade.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Delores M. Slade of New Bern, Patti M. (Glenn) Lupton of South River, Aubrey L. (Jill) McKinney of Alabama; grandchildren: Andy (Cary) Slade of Wilmington, Zachary (Jodi) Slade of Texas, Eric (Heather) Slade of Bridgeton, Thomas J. Lupton of Greenville, and Amanda H. (Greg) Moss of Beaufort; and seven great-grandchildren.
