Gary Steven Johnson

Gary Steven Johnson, 68, of Scott Town Road passed away on June 9, 2021, at CarolinaEast Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born October 12, 1952, in Craven County, to parents, Martha Scott Johnson Heffelfinger and Henry Mack Jonson, Jr.

He is survived by sisters, Vicky Ward and Donna Vasquez (John); brother, Dahn Heflebower; “Brother by Choice”, Rick Williams; Aunt Pat and Uncle Ray; nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Henry Mack Johnson, III; sister, Brenda Avery; and “Brother by Choice” (and Brother-in-law), Ross Ward.

Gary was a fun loving, caring person who never met a stranger, loved his Westerns, and loved the Lord all his life. Life threw him some curveballs, but he had an unwavering faith in God that he didn’t hesitate to share with others.

A graveside service remembering him and his mother, Martha Heffelfinger who passed away in Illinois in January, will be held Saturday, July 24 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at Scott Cemetery, Scott Town Rd., officiated by Pastor Ray Griffin.  Parking assistance will be provided.
