George Bradford Hodges “Brad”, 71, of Grantsboro, NC, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning, March 6, 2022, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, New Bern.
Brad was born at Craven County Hospital, New Bern, NC on February 26, 1951. He was passionate about his walk with Christ. It was that same passion that drove him to share his personal experiences, love, forgiveness, and grace with others. He had a way of making sure that every person in the room felt nurtured and special. He was a long-standing member and Deacon of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and a member of The Gideons International. Brad worked in the Laboratory at Texas Gulf, Aurora, NC for 15 years. He then became a licensed insurance agent as well as entrepreneur in multiple businesses. After retirement he enjoyed life on the water as well as spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him would agree that he missed his calling as a standup comedian!
Brad is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Diane Aversa Hodges; daughter, Heather Hodges McDonald, Las Vegas, NV; sons, Steven Mitchell (Renee) of Winterville, NC, and Michael Mitchell (Jennifer) of Granbury, TX; grandsons, Drew McDonald (Maddie), Braeden McDonald (Morgan), Camden McDonald (Morgan), Harrison McDonald, Ethan Mitchell, Brody Mitchell, Henry Mitchell, and Samuel Mitchell; sisters, Harriett Rowe and Patti Chance; aunts, Betty Bullock and Becky Dixon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Dixon Hodges; father, George W. Hodges, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
