Harry Keith Bennett, 63, of Grantsboro, left this earth Friday morning, February 7, 2025, while at Grantsbrook for rehabilitation following a short illness.
Harry, born May 9, 1961, was the youngest child of the late Marshall and Hazel Bennett of Grantsboro and uncle to his brother’s infant son, Travis, who also preceded him in death.
Harry is survived by his sister, Joan Bennett (partner, Randall Dawson) of Goldsboro; her son, Hugh Bennett (wife, Alison) of Reelsboro; her daughter, Kristal Bennett of Goldsboro; his brother, Stanley Bennett of Goldsboro; and his son, Drew Bennett (partner, Lauren Thatch) of Lakewood, CO. Also, several great nieces and a great nephew. He leaves behind his friend, a chosen brother, Eric Nyberg; his dear friend, Vicky West; many cousins and countless friends that loved him.
Harry often introduced himself as “Marshall and Hazel’s baby boy” and that was a well-known truth. He was a man with unique charm and an unforgettable sense of humor. Harry was an excellent cook, and he was fairly fond of eating as well as sharing a meal. He had a life-long love of music and taught himself to play guitar. He was a huge fan of Hank Williams, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many other musical greats, sharing that love with friends from an early age. Aside from enjoying a good time, he was a hard worker, following in his Daddy’s footsteps as a carpenter for much of his life. He truly was one of a kind and he will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
A visitation to share memories of Harry will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 13th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to any Humane Society.
