Henry, affectionately known as Bud, was born in Pamlico County to the late Henry Arthur Barker, Sr. and Bessie Davis Barker, one of seven children.

Bud was a true family man who cherished his family and the time spent with them. His compassionate nature led him to help or find help for anyone in need. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord above all else and was an active member of Reelsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church.
