On December 13, 2025, our beloved Herbert Edison Swindell, lovingly known as Herbie, passed into glory peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Herbie loved God and his family above all else. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An Army veteran, Herbie retired from Maola Milk and Ice Cream Company after many years of dedicated service. Though he often worked long hours, he always made time for what mattered most—his family. He rarely missed a sporting event for his children or grandchildren and was known for his patience, encouragement, and unwavering support.
Herbie helped raise two daughters and had a profound impact on his grandchildren. He coached many of their baseball and softball teams and touched the lives of countless youth by teaching them not only how to play the game, but how to do so with integrity and teamwork. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed time on the water fishing with family.
Strong in his faith, Herbie shared the love of Christ through the way he lived his life. He showed kindness and generosity to everyone he met and lived as a true servant to others. He was blessed with the gift of making nearly anyone smile and loved to playfully pick and joke with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Alice Swindell; his daughters, Alice Mitchell (Timmy) and Candi Taylor; his grandchildren, Caleb Swindell, Morgan Tirado (Esteban), Isaiah Taylor, Trevon Taylor, Cason Brinson, and Marshall Brinson (Brittany); and his three beautiful great-grandchildren, Kennedy Brinson, Parker Brinson, and Mateo Tirado.
Herbie’s legacy of faith, love, and service will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3
We don’t say goodbye but see you later.
To honor his wishes, there will not be a funeral service or visitation. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
