Herbert Ernest Willis, 88, of Arapahoe passed away July 15, 2023, at his home.

He retired from Texas Gulf after 30 years. He served in the United States Army Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mamie Willis; sisters, Jessie Lee, Thelma Bennett, Verda Many; Wilma Goodwin, Jevelyn Bell, and Dorothy Harrison; brothers, Hewitt and Robert Willis; and grandson, Derrick Meadows.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nora Cowell Willis; children, Donna Meadows (Danny) and Herbie Willis (Darlene); granddaughter, Dana Meadows Bender (John); step granddaughter, Alisha Meadows Ladowski (Chris); step great-grandson, Jace Ladowski.

Herbert will be remembered as a loving, gracious, and good man. He lived life to the fullest and entertained everyone who was in his presence. In his own words – “Everything I say is Funny!”

His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22nd at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Green and Rev. Ricky Miller officiating. Private interment in Paul Cemetery, Arapahoe.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico Rescue, PO Box 302, Bayboro, NC 28515.
