Herman Eldridge Dunbar

Herman E. Dunbar, 91, of Bayboro, NC passed at home surrounded by family on Friday, February 18, 2022.

He was born on June 7, 1930, in Ronceverte WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewin and Lomie Dunbar, and his 9 siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife, Imogene Dunbar; two daughters, Beverly Spieler (Hank), and Valerie Dunbar; three sons, Wayne Dunbar (Cathy), Mark Dunbar (Maxine), and Reed Dunbar (Laurie); and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved his family greatly.

He was a faithful member and deacon of the Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He served as a Marine in the Korean War and later worked and retired as an aircraft mechanic at MCAS Cherry Point Naval Aviation Depot. He was an avid hunter and fisherman for all his life.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 pm.
