Irven John Gearey

Irven John Gearey, Jr., 81, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born to the late Irven and Margaret Gearey in Norfolk, Virginia.

He was predeceased by three step brothers and two step sisters. He also was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Louvon B. Gearey and best friend / brother-in-law Ralph Belangia.

He served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime hunter and outdoorsman as part of Fairfield Hunt Club. He was a lifelong member of the Elizabeth Lodge #34 and also a lifelong member of the Khedive Shriners / Hillbillies.

He is survived by his son Michael J. Gearey and fiancée Mindy Hackler. He is also survived by three grandchildren Katie, Jacob and Wyatt Gearey and one great granddaughter Harper Gearey; one niece Joy Belangia and one nephew Warren (Dena) West, many other relatives and friends including his breakfast groups in Chesapeake and Arapahoe.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Oman Funeral Home. The burial will take place 2:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Land Family Cemetery 306 South Arapahoe, NC. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in honor of Irven to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Masonic Homes.
