James Franklin Green

James Franklin Green, 81, of Grantsboro went home to be with his Lord in Heaven on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from home.

Known by Jim, Bud, Brother, James Franklin, or Franklin, he will be remembered for being a true people person. He enjoyed time spent walking around the neighborhood and talking with those he would see. He also enjoyed visiting and family gatherings and was known for being the first there and the last to leave and most often wearing his red hat and red shirt. His life was structured around tradition.

James is a U.S. Navy Veteran and served on the USS Halsey during Vietnam. He was a licensed auctioneer for 40 years and volunteer EMTI with Pamlico Rescue for 12 years. He attended Reelsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from welding at PCS Phosphate after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenwood and Marie Green; brother, Lonnie Carson Green; and brother-in-law, Charles Hardison.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of nearly 58 years, Doris Wellman Green; daughters, Vickie Lupton (Greg) and Jennifer Williams (Russell); brother, Jeff Green (Kelly), sister, Sarah Hardison; sister-in-law, Joanne Green; and grandchildren, Sophie Lupton, Addison Lupton, and James Williams.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held Wednesday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Reelsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment with military honors, will follow immediately in Green-Banks Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
