James Rudolph Wood, Sr., 79, of Matthews Rd., Bayboro passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at home.
Raised in the Asbury/Cove City area, Rudolph was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. He was well known in the community as the owner and operator of Wood’s Grocery in Spring Garden, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. Rudolph was a man devoted to his family and his community. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon “Jeannie”; his parents, Chris and Georgia Wood; three brothers, Buddy, Ray, and Billy Wood; a sister, Shelby Jean Wood; grandson, Jaymes M. Wood; cousin, Wade Tippett and his wife, Becky; and Ashby and Carrie Tippett, the uncle and aunt who lovingly helped raise him.
He is survived by son, James R. “Rudy” Wood, Jr. (Janette); daughters, Melissa Wood and Sharon M. Ward (Tavis Harris); brother, Clarence Howard Wood (Jaimie); sister-in-law, Nancy Wood; grandchildren, James Marcus Wood, Lukas Wood, Hanna Mentink (Kannon), Jonathan Greene, Tristan Wood and Cayden Wood; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy & Keioni Wood; and cousins, Linda & Chance Jenkins and Connie & Pat Daugherty, who held a very special place in his heart.
The family will honor his life privately at a later date.
