Jean Eubanks West

Jean Eubanks West, 79, of New Bern entered glory on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Pruitt Health-Neuse Campus.

She graduated from Jones Central High School and had a full basketball scholarship to Pineland Junior College.  Jean was the first woman to manage a Provident Finance Company office.  She and her husband owned and operated Security Finance Company of New Bern.  She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Twin Rivers Corvette Club and lifetime member of the Antique Auto Club of America.

A generous and kind lady, she enjoyed helping others and animals. She dearly loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beck & Lillian Eubanks.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Willard West Jr.; son, John Michael Willis (Wendy) of New Bern; three daughters, Pamela W. Toler (Jimmy) of Greenville, Tamela W. Aghjayan of Hickory and Susan W. Tripp (Mark) of New Bern; two sisters, Ann Broggi of Trenton and Debbie Broome (Allen) of New Bern; grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Jamie and John; great-granddaughter, Alyssa; and “Buffy” her loving fur baby.

Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 24 ^th at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Gleason officiating.  Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 616 Broad St. New Bern, NC 28560 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family wishes to thank Wendy Riggs for her love and support, the 4 ^th floor oncology staff at CEMC and the staff of Pruitt Health-Neuse Campus for all of their care and compassion. You are all truly appreciated.
