Jeannette Banks Hudson joined her heavenly Father, her daughter, her son, her parents, her brother, and many of her dear friends she loved on Thanksgiving Day.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard W. Hudson; her daughter, Teresa “Terry” Hudson Vaughn; her daughter-in-law, Christie Burroughs Hudson; her sister, Rosalie Peacock (George); sister-in-law, Pam Banks; and grandchildren, Lucien “Luke” Vaughn, III, Hudson Vaughn (Gracie), Benjamin “Ben” Stanley, Richard “Trey” Hudson, III, Christian Hudson, and Lillie Grace Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron M. Banks and Lillie Lee Banks; her brother, Myron M. Banks, Jr.; her daughter, Karen Hudson Stanley; and son, Richard W. Hudson, Jr.
Jeannette was born on February 24, 1936, in Grantsboro, graduated from Pamlico County High School and later studied at Rex Hospital where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. While in Raleigh, she married her high school sweetheart “Dick” and worked as a nurse to help him through medical school. They have been happily married for 66 years!
Jeannette was a member of the Bayboro United Methodist Church, sang in the choir there, and also sang with the Pamlico Chorale. She was, in addition, an active participant in the Fishes and Loaves Ministry.
In her earlier years, she was an avid golfer and won several Club Championships. She loved traveling with friends and family, reading books and was artistic in many ways – oil and watercolor painting, flower arranging and interior design. She was instrumental in assisting with some of the displays at the Pamlico Heritage Center.
During the last 20+ years, her focus returned to her nursing background and caregiving qualities…taking care of friends and family who were ill or in need. She did this without hesitation.
In her eyes, all of these activities were extremely important, but none more so than her family (especially her grandchildren), who affectionately called her “Moma Nette”.
“Moma Nette” will be missed by anyone who really knew her.
Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27 th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will be held in Grantsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
