Jere Bunting, III

Jere Bunting III, age 75, of New Bern, NC passed away peacefully Sunday October 18, 2026, after a years-long battle with cancer.

Born on August 27, 1951, in Richmond, VA to parents Rev. Jere Bunting Jr. and Catharine Jones Bunting, he will be remembered for his love of music and dancing, his infectious laugh, and his enjoyment of family and friends. He was a man of faith and a dutiful and loving father.

Jere worked for the Federal Civil Service for 45 years in Newport News, VA and Cherry Point, NC before his retirement in 2017.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeremiah Bunting and Jonathan Bunting; his brother, Edward Bunting; his sisters, Cary Farr and Margaret Ward; his granddaughters, Arabella Bunting and Penelope Bunting; and his cat, Aspyn.

A memorial service will be held at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home in Alliance, NC at 1:30PM on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. All are welcome to attend.
