Jerry Theodore (Tommy) Brothers was born February 1, 1940, in Aurora, NC, to Sarah Edna Mayo and Harvey Atlee Brothers, Sr.
Jerry/Tommy joined the United States Air Force (USAF) immediately after graduating from Aurora High School. He earned his pilot’s license at age 15 and later taught flying for years; he was employed by DuPont for 32 years. He was an avid boater and fisherman and loved nothing more than sharing the experience with others. He was a member of Dublin Grove OFWB Church in Aurora and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenville.
Jerry/Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, three nephews and his brother, Walter Hubert Brothers and wife, Thora Brothers.
Surviving Jerry/Tommy are his wife of almost 25 years,[married 2/3/1996] Evelyn Lewis Spangler Brothers; his son, USCG Commander Jerry Theodore (Ted) Brothers, Jr., and wife, Melissa; his daughters, Amy Brothers Wood and husband, Harold, and Dr. Paula Brothers; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter; his brother, Harvey Atlee Brothers, Jr. and wife, Mildred; and nephews and nieces.
His graveside service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23 rd at White Hill OFWB Church Cemetery, 9204 Old Sandhill Rd., Aurora, NC 27806 with the Rev. Earl Sadler Jr. and Rev. Raymond Lagcher officiating.
