Joel "Tommy" Thomas Jones

Joel Thomas “Tommy” Jones, 76, of Goose Creek passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

A man of faith, he was a member of Amity Christian Church. He retired after 35 years of service with the U.S. Civil Service-Cherry Point.  He occupied his time after retiring as a transmission repairman. Tommy had a passion for drag racing; however, life’s greatest joy was being “Bubby and Grandpa” to his grandchildren. A true people person, he had a way of making everyone laugh and will be remembered deeply for his unconditional commitment to helping others.

Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Senie “Terre” Jones; children, Quincy Jones (Kim), Lenna Jones, and David Powell (Kathy); sister, Betty Bailey (Franklin); five grandchildren, Jacob Powell (Destinee), Amelia Jones, Baileigh Jones, Savannah Jones, and Wade Thomas Jones; and one great-grandchild, Dawson Powell.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Bessie Jones; brother, Leslie “Paul” Jones; and son, Wade Austin Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 11th at Cayton Cemetery, Goose Creek with Rev. James Hardesty officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the cemetery.
