John Colin Adams

Mr. John Colin Adams, age 77, of Newport, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.

He was born May 18, 1944 in Jacksonville, NC to the late Robert K. and Elizabeth Miller Adams.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his brother, Robert K. Adams Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bonnie Stewart Adams of Newport; daughter, Tanya L. Adams Jordan and husband Bob of Hays, NC; son, Geoffrey S. Adams and wife, Victoria; his beloved grandchildren, Haven Noelle Jordan and Dayton Robert Jordan; and one sister-in-law, Lenore Adams.

Mr. Adams’ career at Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point spanned over 42 years. He began his career as an aircraft mechanic, and it culminated in logistics at Fleet Readiness Center East formerly known as The Air Depot. He traveled twice to the South Pole to retrieve C-130 aircraft.

Mr. Adams served as a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 61 for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved spending that time with his friends. Mr. Adams enjoyed getting together with his “Envoys” once a month. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock. His family meant the world to him, they were his everything.

A funeral service honoring Mr. Adams’ life will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock, NC with Pastor Jim Daub officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern.
