John Hermann Bischoff, 87, of New Bern passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at CarolinaEast Medical Center. He was an active member of Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.
He spent his life dedicated to his craft. A few of his achievements include building homes for Habitat for Humanity and his one-of-a-kind round house with a matching round garage which he and his family lived in for thirty years. His greatest accomplishment was constructing the Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and cemetery in 2004.
Though his expertise and attention to detail were unmatched, John will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He was a kind soul who always put the needs of others before his own. His daughters and grandchildren were the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea Bischoff, and his parents, George and Barbara Bischoff.
He is survived by his five daughters, Linda (Karl Stiene), Barbara (Joe Eckner, deceased), Victoria (Steve Toth), Cynthia (Paul Kolb), and Erica (Mike McGovern, deceased); significant other, Joan Ferzetti; brother Wolfgang (Monika); eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7pm on Monday, May 22 at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home in Alliance, NC. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 23 at Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental, NC with interment immediately
following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pamlico County Fishes and Loaves, PCFLO, Inc., PO Box 771, Oriental, NC 28571.
