John Charles Brannon 75, of New Bern, NC went to glory to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Born January 1, 1950, Charles was full of life and a drive for adventure. Charles served our country during Vietnam where he was a gunners mate in the US Navy, he was very proud of his service and enjoyed telling a story or two about his times on R&R.
One of his many accomplishments in life included being a husband to his “bride” Deborah, who he adored and loved endlessly. He also was an outstanding father who provided a loving home to each one of his children, Gina, Patrick and Krissy. Charles was known by many as a real jokester - always cracking jokes and playing pranks on others around him. Charles had “never met a stranger” and would talk to anyone and everyone, and by the time goodbyes were in order - those he encountered were the best of friends.
Charles will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. The world is a bit duller without his brightlight of a personality, but his spirit will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him. Charles' love of classic cars, racing, and handy skills will always be instilled in his son, Patrick and his sense of humor and love for history within his daughter, Krissy. While we will always miss him, we find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is driving a 67’ Chevelle on streets of gold with those who have gone before him.
Those left to treasure his memory include his wife, Debbie Brannon; son, Patrick Brannon; daughter, Krissy Buchanan. The two joys of his life - his granddaughters, Kinsley Bragg and Taelyn Bainbridge. Sisters-in-law, Georgia Ensley of New Bern, NC, Linda Bullock (Calvin) of Raleigh, NC, Jeannie Smith of Fredericksburg, VA and Judy Cox of Danbury, NC.; brother-in-law, Gene Bradley of Durham, NC. His favorite cousins that he has many wonderful memories with, Joanie Taylor (Terry), Bonnie Spear (Jeff), and Dickie Sanders (Vicki). Along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he cared so deeply for.
He was met with a warm embrace at the gates of heaven by his daughter, Gina Brannon; mother, Kay Ellis; sister, Peggy Bradley; brother, Ray Cox; uncle, Burt White; uncle and aunt, Clarence & Lillian Sanders; and father and mother-in-law, John and Virginia French.
