John Wesley Grimsley, Jr.

John Wesley Grimsley Jr., 80, of Grantsboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 2, 2026.

John was a man of strong faith who was raised with Christian values and carried those beliefs with him throughout his life. He was a devoted member of New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church.

John was a hardworking man who believed in doing a job well and taking pride in providing for his family. He retired from PCS Phosphate after 35 years of dedicated service. His strong work ethic and dependability were qualities that defined him throughout his life.

When John was not working, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and spending time outdoors, and he could often be found relaxing while watching his favorite westerns. Above all, John treasured his family and the life he shared with his beloved wife, Carolyn. Their 60 years of marriage were a testament to a lifetime of love, commitment, and companionship.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Mae Grimsley; and his sister, Brenda Steen.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carolyn Grimsley; son, Jason Grimsley; sister, Judy Toler; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7th, at New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ashley Trogden officiating.
