Johnnie Dewitt Cowell, Sr., 75, of Reelsboro passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at home.

He is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, retired from the NC State Transportation Dept., and was an antique car enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lela Cowell; brother, Eddie Cowell; and granddaughter, Summer Swindell.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judi Cowell; children, Barbara Swindell (Kelly), Christy Cowell Rice, and Dee Cowell, Jr. (Julie); stepchildren, Eddie Kowalski (Jennifer) and Jodi Kowalski; brother, Nathan Cowell (Raye); sisters, Nora Cowell Willis (Herbert) and Callaree Cowell Hoffman; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19 th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Green officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow immediately in Green-Banks Cemetery on Roberts Rd.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
