Joseph "Joe" Thomson Roatche, Jr.

Joseph “Joe” T. Roatche, Jr., 80, of Vandemere passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from C & C Ford in Horsham, PA before relocating to Pamlico County where he was able to enjoy his love of the water. Joe made many friends and spent time conversing with them at the “back table” at Charlie’s. He also spent time tinkering and fixing most anything he set his mind to. His love of dogs, especially German Shepard’s, will be among the many things he will be remembered for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Roatche.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judith Roatche; children, Wayne Roatche (Chris), Denise Fulp (Ron), Mary Roatche (Eric Lodge), Susan Benner (Jay), and Harry “Joe” Grunmeier (Jennifer); his sister, Ann Bennett (Doug); brother, Louis Roatche (Mildred); 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his loving dog, Bella.

His memorial will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Fitzgerald officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico Animal Welfare Society, P.A.W.S., PO Box 888, Oriental, NC 28571.
