Joseph Alfred Pigeon

Joseph A. Pigeon, 79, from Merritt, NC, formerly of Key West, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at home surrounded by his sisters.

Born in Bay Shore, NY on October 18, 1946, to Nellie and Alphonse Pigeon. He is brother of James, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Mary; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews; good friend to Joan Weaver; and dear friend to Jean Mogey.

A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from the Pamlico County Correctional Facility, formerly owned and operated an exotic bird shop in Key West as well as a frame shop in Key West.

He also leaves behind his beloved parrots, Sweeney and Jesse.
