Jules “Jay” Hugo Woodard, 76, of Grantsboro, passed away on September 15, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He graduated from Pamlico County High School in 1967. Jay was a man who lived life on his own terms and carried himself with great confidence. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman who found joy and peace in the outdoors. He was also a proud lifelong member of the NRA. His faith was important to him, and he was a member of New Life Church as well as a dedicated lifelong member of the 700 Club.
He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Sudie Margaret Woodard; his beloved wife, Lorraine Hardison Woodard; and sister, Linda Kay Woodard.
Jay leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: son, Jay Christian Woodard (Angela); daughters, Dawn Laurette McDaniel and Lori Sue Woodard; sisters, Vickie Jones (Carl) and Suzette Nesbitt (Harry); grandchildren, Olivia McDaniel, Jayla Woodard, Tyler Day, Ava Woodard, Dylan Casper, and Blake Gaskill; and great-grandchildren, Raylynn, Cru, Drake, and Bentley. He is also survived by his dear friends Robbie Mercer, Tommy Daniels, and C.H. Styron, who shared in his love of fellowship and the outdoors.
A funeral service to honor Jay’s life will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church with Pastor Scott Coghill officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
