Kenneth Lambert Midyette

Kenneth Lambert Midyette, 87, of Oriental, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

Ken was born in Oriental to the late George Preston “G.P.” Midyette and Irma Ross Midyette. A man of faith, Ken is a member of Oriental First Baptist Church.

Ken is in the ECU National Diving Champion Hall of Fame.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Preston Midyette, Jr. and sister, Betsy Ross Thompson.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Diana Midyette; sons, Kenneth L. Midyette, Jr. (Robin Carberry) of Oriental, Lewis Midyette (Page), and John Thomas “Tommy” Midyette, all of Raleigh; stepchildren, Rob Hardison and Heather Potter (Brian), all of Minnesott Beach; brother, Hugh “Pastry” Taylor Midyette (Dixie) of Oriental; sisters, Fay Bond of Oriental and Billie Jean Furlong of Matthews; two grandchildren, Kyle Midyette (Brittany) of Jamestown and Cameron Midyette of Raleigh; great granddaughters, Clara Midyette and Elise Midyette, both of Jamestown; step-grandchildren, Matthew Hardison of New Bern, Hannah Hardison of Minnesott Beach, Kayley Ireland of Vanceboro, and Camryn Potter of Wilmington; and step-great-granddaughter, Elaina Hardison of Minnesott Beach.

A memorial service to honor Ken’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, June 29th at Oriental First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Rogers and Rev. Ricky Miller officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
