Landon Craig Campbell, Jr.

Landon Craig Campbell Jr., 81, of Merritt, NC, formerly of Portsmouth, VA, passed away on Friday, September 8th, 2023.

Craig was born on March 17th, 1942, in Portsmouth VA. After he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960, he went on to study Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, he started his first job, at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, kick-starting a 40-year career in shipbuilding, finishing his career as part of SUPSHIP at Newport News Shipbuilding.

Craig was married to, and survived by, his wife of 59 years, Martha Jo Campbell; their two children, Kelly Campbell Barnes, and C. Blake Campbell; son and daughter-in law, Bruce Barnes and Catherine Hobbs; and three grandchildren, Logan Barnes, Conner Barnes, and Annelise Campbell; as well as many close friends.

A memorial service will be announced on a future date.
