Letha Jo Asby Tingle, 67, of Grantsboro passed away on December 3, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Letha’s kindness, creativity, and devotion to others touched countless lives.
Letha was a faithful member of Amity Christian Church, where her love for singing and her passion for the choir were evident in all she did. Whether lending her voice, helping behind the scenes, or offering support wherever it was needed, she was always ready to serve with a joyful spirit. She also attended Motion Church and cherished every opportunity to worship and fellowship with her church families.
She spent many years working in both the public and private school sectors within Pamlico County, pouring her creativity and care into every role she held. Letha had a special talent for crafting and was always the first to offer ideas – or a helping hand - when it came to decorating classroom doors, bulletin boards, and school displays. Her artistic touch brightened hallways and lifted the spirits of students and staff alike.
Throughout the years, she also worked as a waitress at Brantley’s and Gary’s restaurants, where her warm personality and easy smile made everyone feel welcome.
Letha had a deep love for cooking, especially when it meant preparing meals for her family or for church gatherings. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, who were her heart’s delight and the center of her world.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Barbour; her father, Wiley Asby; and her precious grandson, Grayson Tingle.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 41 years, Michael Tingle; her children, Timothy Tingle and wife, Karah, and Michaela Hopkins and husband, Eric; and her four beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, Anthony, and Zoey, who will forever carry her love with them.
A funeral service to honor Letha’s life will be held at Amity Christian Church on Tuesday, December 9th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pamlico Christian Academy Building Fund, PO Box 68, Grantsboro, NC 28529, a cause close to Letha’s heart.
