Linda Sue Bennett, 80, of Pamlico County, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Born and raised in Pamlico County, Linda later moved to Suffolk, Virginia, where she spent many years before eventually returning to her North Carolina roots, making Pamlico County her home once again.
Linda was one of only nine graduates of the Highsmith-Rainey Memorial School of Nursing's Class of 1969. She began her professional career as a Registered Nurse and went on to specialize in psychiatric nursing.
Known for her fiery red hair and equally fiery spirit, Linda was fiercely independent and never one to shy away from speaking her mind. She preferred doing things her own way, made her own decisions, and wasn't easily persuaded otherwise. She enjoyed reading, science fiction, listening to oldies music, collecting Avon perfumes, and caring for the feral cats around her home. Her strong will, unique interests, and unmistakable personality were all part of what made her Linda.
Later in life, Linda became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She valued her faith and participated in church life whenever she was able.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Bennett and Eloise Rowe Bennett; and her brother, Swinton "Buddy" Bennett.
She is survived by her daughter, Tali Long, and son-in-law, Kenny Long, of Suffolk, Virginia; her grandson, Kyle Long; and her nephews, Jason Bennett of New Mexico and Daren Bennett of North Carolina.
Funeral or memorial service arrangements will be added when available.
