Lloyd Vernon Lane, Jr., 78 of Merritt entered his Heavenly home on August 21, 2024.

He is a member of Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church where he experienced his greatest joy directing the church choir. He was one of the original members of the Gabriels Gospel Quartet. Lloyd was a barber for 38 years. He was also a mason with Doric Lodge #568.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Eliza Lane and son, Kevin Lane.

Lloyd will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 40 years, Mavis Lane; daughters, Ann Margaret Register (Michael), Tina Hlabse (Drew), and Charley Holt (Paul); sister, Ann Wooten; grandchildren, Christian Register (Elyssa), Chloe Register, Cassidy and Lilah Hlabse, and Michael Black and Lane Holt; and great-granddaughter, Paisley Register.

A memorial service to honor Lloyd’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24th at Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church, 101 Main Street, Bayboro, NC 28515, officiated by Rev. Scott Fitzgerald.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
