Lois Kathryn Harrison

November 19, 1927 — September 10, 2022

Lois Kathryn Harrison, age 94, lived a full and enriching life, right through her passing on September 10, 2022.

“For God so loved the world that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Lois was the light of our lives, a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who taught us by example and with a quiet passion what it means to live a faith-driven life of love and community service.

Lois will be remembered as a passionate person who loved helping others. Throughout her career as a social worker, she touched the lives of hundreds by her acts of kindness and compassion, helping to establish Kendall Park First Aid Squad in NJ and developing the South Brunswick Senior Citizen Center.  Later in life, she enjoyed volunteering at the Oriental History Museum located in Oriental, NC.

She was a member of Oriental United Methodist Church and had a close relationship with the Lord. Jesus taught us that even a simple act, is an example of sharing the love of God. Lois had been involved in the: Prayer Shawl Ministries, the Outreach Programs New Horizon School in Paraguay and Nets - No Malaria. Lois was a lifelong member in the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Nutley Chapter #121.  During this past year, Lois was attending Garber United Methodist Church in New Bern.

She will be remembered for her love of the Civil War, Thomas Jefferson, reading historical novels, playing the Dulcimer and crocheting.

Our family will continue to honor her legacy by living our lives to the fullest with the spirit of love and kindness through God’s hands.

Lois is predeceased by her true love, Jerry Harrison, husband of 64 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter; Kathy Guzzo, (Michael), son; Richard Harrison, (Lisa), two grandsons; Michael Guzzo and Kyle Petty (Danielle), and four great grandchildren; Kyle David (KD), Connor, Ryan and Adalynn.

All her love to the Higgins family for their love and to “Linda Ann” for her nightly calls and book readings.

Her extended family also includes: Andrea Bailey and her dearest, loving boys Sam and Grayson and Rosey Cardona whose act of love and kindness is witnessed by her adoption of Lois’s love rescue, Chihuahua mix, Lucy.

Thank you to ‘Sea Unit’ of Bayview Rehab/ Nursing Center in New Bern to the entire staff for their professionalism, compassion and kindness during these challenging times.

The family of Lois Harrison would like to thank the wonderful people of Pamlico Rescue Squad for their dedication, time and compassion over the years of supporting our mother’s care. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are most grateful to live in such a warm and caring community.
