Louella Darlene Powless

Dec 24, 1960 — Oct 28, 2026

Aurora

Louella Darlene Bozman (Giardello) Powless, 65, passed away at Grantsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She had made her home in Aurora, North Carolina, for the past two years.

Louella’s life began with challenges, but she never allowed the hardships of her early years to define her. Instead, she chose to make the most of each day, greeting the world with a smile and a spirit that remained positive through life’s ups and downs. She was not one to complain or speak unkindly of others. Her warmth and friendly nature made it easy for her to form connections wherever life took her, and she was always finding new friends along the way. She always took care of others, especially if her daughters brought them home. Everyone immediately became like children to her and they all were looked after and loved “Ms. Louella”.

One of Louella’s greatest accomplishments was raising her two daughters, Autumn and Megan, largely on her own. She worked hard throughout her life, taking on a variety of jobs to provide for her family. Her many roles while in Goldsboro included working at DOT, driving the bus and working in the cafeteria for Wayne County Public Schools, Walmart, and AAR. Louella was a hardworking woman, who was never afraid to roll up her sleeves and do what needed to be done.

Sixteen years ago, Louella met the man who would become her husband, Wayne Powless. Together, they built a life that took them wherever his next industrial construction job led. Louella worked alongside Wayne in the industrial construction industry, traveling with him and taking on various positions within the company. Their life together brought new experiences, adventures, and the companionship of two people who shared life’s journey.

Through every chapter of her life, Louella’s smile, friendly spirit, and ability to find the good in people remained a special part of who she was. Her life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and the choice to keep moving forward with a positive heart. Louella was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Betty Bozman, brother, Paul Giardello, nephew, Trevor Bozman, and a few very dear friends who also went too soon.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 14 years, Wayne Powless, and her two daughters, Autumn Davis (Josiah) and Megan Goff, and two grandchildren, Calliope and Dominic Davis, who will forever carry the memories of her love and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life. She also leaves behind her sister, Sally Palmeri (Bill); brothers, Timmy Newhart, George Bozman, Joseph Giardello Jr., Jerry Callison, and Mark Bozman; her stepson, Sean Powless; stepdaughter, Stephanie Belvin (Dustin); and step grandchildren, Skylar Powless and Avery and Everly Belvin.
