Louis Earl Daniels, 72, of Alliance, devoted husband, Dad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle, and friend passed away from this world to heaven on Friday, October 21, 2022, at home.
He was born June 18, 1950, in Maribel, NC – Pamlico County to the late, Julius Garley Daniels, Sr. and Ruth Willis Daniels.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Frances Daniels.
He is survived by his loving wife, Zelda Rice Daniels (52 years on Oct 28, 2022);son, Rusty W. Daniels (Kim) of Alliance; daughter, Ruthy D. Hiatt (Sterling Singletary) of Hobucken; his beloved grandchildren, Kenly Hiatt, Trent Hiatt of Bridgeton, Jacie Hiatt of Bayboro, and Zack and Summer Daniels of Alliance; brothers, Garley (Barbara) of Grantsboro, Harvey (Janice) of Alliance; sister, Betty D. Wetherington (Roy) of New Bern; sister-in-law, Evon J. Daniels of Granstboro; many, many nieces and nephews; many friends and cousins; and their special dog, Oliver.
Louis retired from Marine Corp Air Station, Cherry Point as a Facilitator of NADEP after 20 years.
He served in the US National Guard from 1969 to 1975.
He was an avid hunter over the years and enjoyed his hunting dogs and fellowship with his hunting buddies and family from NC to Kentucky. In 2013, he won the Test of the Best with his Fox Hound, Andy L. and got awards in Lexington, KY. He loved to travel, and he and his wife went to almost all the states over the years. They also loved to dance and shag.
He was proud of all his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. Always enjoyed all his family, friends and watching his son, Rusty, race on Saturday nights at a local round track.
The one thing to remember about Louis, although he was sick a long time, when asked how he was, he ALWAYS said, I am wonderful! He said no one wanted to hear all the troubles.
Louis’s funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24 th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Hollywood Cemetery, Olympia. Funeral services will be livestreamed on his obituary page at danielssadlerfunerals.com.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
