Malcolm Phillips Hassell

Malcolm Phillips Hassell, better known as Bud or Papa, passed away peacefully at home on June 23. He made it home to Glory to be with his love of 58 years, his wife Linda M. Hassell.

Born September 20, 1936, in Washington NC, he was the son of Malcolm Mitchell and Elizabeth Phillips Hassell of Washington NC. Bud and Linda were blessed with three children, Susan Hassell Bridgman, and husband Randy Bridgman (deceased) of New Bern, two sons Malcom Phillips Hassell, Jr and Jason McQueen Hassell both of Washington, he was a Papa to 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He served in the US Air Force, followed by a career in the Tobacco business, he was the proud owner of Hassell Tobacco Warehouse, followed by years of farming. He was a humble man who reached the lives of many through his kindness, desire to serve and passion and love of the Lord. He lived a life full of fun and humor, he cherished his family and his many friends.

The family will hold a casual remembrance service on Thursday, June 29 at 6:00 pm at Hassell Farm, 209 Hassell Ave.  Washington NC.
