Mark George Bessette

Mark G. Bessette of Oriental joined his heavenly family on September 27, 2026. Born in Troy, New York, on July 10, 1952, to Mary and Leroy Bessette, he graduated from Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York. Mark proudly served his country as a radioman in the U.S. Navy.

Mark was a sports lover and met the love of his life Michele Brown on the softball field of the American Legion Post #1450 in Halfmoon, NY. They were married on the softball field in 1989. Mark worked for Carlisle Inc, - Versico as a Service Roofing Coordinator and as well as continuing military service as a Reservist until his retirement.

Mark loved outdoor life, fishing, camping, boating and sports. He loved to dance with Michele at various social functions. Mark also loved to coach youth sports as well as playing softball.

Mark leaves behind his wife, Michele, of Oriental, NC; daughters, Susan (Ryan) Freeman of Glens Falls, NY, Erin (Chris) Falcone of Schenectady, NY, and Ashley Gody of Merritt, NC. His sons, Joshua (Laura) Gody of Peoria, Az, Eric (Kat) Gody of Colorado Springs, CO, and Baylee Gody of Merritt. Mark leaves behind 8 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Leroy Bessette of Malta, NY, and Chris (Henny) Bessette of Lakeside, CA.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Leroy and Mary Bessette; sister, Lynn Bessette; and his daughter, Amy Epting.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday October 1st at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home. Mark will be interred at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at a later date. 

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
