Martha Moore Meskauskas of Oriental, NC passed away Thursday December 17. 2020. She was the wife of John A. Meskauskas with whom she shared 33 years of marriage.


Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the second daughter to the late Marguerite Van Buren Albert Moore and Stanley Gray Moore.  Martha graduated from Holton Arms School in Washington, DC and then went on to study Chemistry at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. She was employed in the Chemistry departments of Villanova University and Haverford College.

In addition to her loving husband John, Martha is survived by her older sister, Hannah Miller of Fort Meyers, FL. She is survived by her two children, Marguerite Gray Papiano (John) of Drexel Hill, PA and Fronefield Crawford III (Jill) of Downingtown, PA. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren, Grayce Ella Kurtz and Chase Steven Kurtz (Marguerite) of Drexel Hill, PA and Cameron Parker Crawford and Sarah Rachel Crawford (Fronefield) of Downingtown, PA.

Very early, Martha was drawn to art. While she did not study art in college, she took many courses with established artists. While Martha created art in a variety of mediums, she produced a significant number of works in watercolor. Over time, her interests shifted to oils in the classic chiaroscuro style of the masters. In this medium, she studied with an internationally-recognized artist. Her work is proudly displayed in many homes in the United States. A sample of her work can be seen on “ m-moore-art.com "

Due to current restrictions, a future service will be planned at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Oriental, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Pamlico, PO Box 6, Bayboro, NC 28515.
