Marvin “Buddy” King Murray, 84, of Merritt passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at home.
A devoted Christian, Marvin is a member and chairman of the deacons of Trent Original Free Will Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and member of the Pamlico County Honor Guard and D.A.V. in addition to Woodmen of the World.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Bernice Murray; son, Richard Murray (Sandy); sisters, Doris Murray, Anna Ruth Roberson, and Betty Arnold; and great-granddaughter, Hadley Pipkin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca “Becky” N. Murray; daughter, Carla Murray Pipkin (Gerald) of Rocky Mount; son, Kelly Eugene Murray (Fiancée, Amy) of Wilson; sister, Verdie Mae Lee (Phillip) of New Bern, three grandsons, Alan Pipkin (Haley), Matthew Pipkin, and Patrick Pipkin (Tiffany); seven great-grandchildren, Matilyn, Weston, Ryan, Emersyn, Dawson, Carson, and Chandler Pipkin; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m., Monday, March 25th at Trent OFWB Church with the Rev. Ray Griffin officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow immediately in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Trent OFWB Church, PO Box 104, Merritt, NC 28556, or Hospice of Pamlico, PO Box 6, Bayboro, NC 28515.
