Mary Carrie Banks

Mary Carrie Banks, 79, passed away on July 14, 2025, at the Caswell Center in Kinston, NC.

Carrie faced challenges from infancy that most never encounter. Yet, through it all, she remained a joyful and loving soul. Her spirit was unwavering – full of warmth, laughter, and deep affection for her family and for life itself. Those who knew her were touched by her resilience, kindness, and unshakable positivity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Mandy Banks and sisters, Edith Williams, Estelle Smithwick, Connie Mitchell, and Edna Mayo.

She is survived by her sister, Alma Banks Rouse; brother, Willie Earl Ireland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to celebrate Carrie’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17th at Williams Cemetery, Cooper Rd., Bayboro, with the Rev. Scott Fitzgerald officiating.
