Mary Magdalene Roberson Davis, 87, of Stonewall, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2026.
A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Mary was a lifelong and devoted member of Maranatha Baptist Church, where she found great joy, comfort, and fellowship among her beloved church family.
Born and raised in the Pactolus community of Pitt County, she carried with her the values of hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her GED at Pamlico Community College.
Mary spent many years working as a skilled seamstress at J Apparel, where her talent and dedication were well known. After her retirement, her caring nature led her to continue serving others as an in-home aide with Social Services, a role she faithfully carried out until the age of 72.
She found happiness in sewing, tending to her garden, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Willie Thomas Roberson; mother, Julia Mae Manning Wade; sisters, Marie Dixon and Elizabeth Mae Toler; son, Garland Wesley Davis, Jr.; and daughter, Julie Ann Davis Jefferson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Gale Scott (Mike) and Lynn Cuthrell (Stephen); brother, Willie T. Roberson; sister, Helen R. Pinkham (Buddy); grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Webster (Brent), Joshua Evans, Emily Evans (Shane McCoy), Shannon Register (John), Rachel Taylor (Brent), Sarah Liverano (Alex), Michael Stocks, Tyler Stocks, and Leah Washington (Kahli); and great-grandchildren, Laurel Webster, Eric Webster, David Jasper Evans, Neo Dash McCoy, Hazel McCoy, Taylor Seijo, Wesley Register, Kelsey Taylor, Collin Taylor, Mya Stocks, Carson Stocks, Harper Stocks, Gabriel Washington, Shiloh Washington, and Sebastian Washington.
A funeral service to honor Mary’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th at Maranatha Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Stephen Cuthrell. Interment will be private at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
