Mary Peele Day

Mary Peele Day, 96, of Florence passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at home.

A woman of faith, Mary is a member of Concord Christian Church. While Mary worked hard farming her whole life, her most cherished job was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love knew no limits, she was always putting her family before herself each and every day. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them and will always be remembered for her love of chocolate, fudge, and oysters. She was also very creative and found happiness crocheting and quilting.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Charles "B.C." Day; sons, Danny and Kelly Day; grandson, Darrin Day; and two great-grandchildren, Kimberly Meekins and Drake Day.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Anna Arthur; son, Herman Day (Missy); daughter-in-law, Cathy Day; five grandchildren, Dannett Day Wetherington, Michael Day, Tina Day Meekins, Amy Day Salter, and Herman Day II; eight great-grandchildren, Sidney Williford, Shelby Williford, Luke Boyd, Michael Day Jr., Nathan Day, Landon Meekins, Samantha Salter, Ryan Day, and Noah Day; and four great-great-grandchildren, Naomi, Adalynn, Della, and Donovan.

A graveside service to honor Mary’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, November 24th at Concord Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Owen Peele.
