Mary Day Moore

Mary Day Moore, age 96, of the Florence Community, died November 21, 2020, at CarolinaEast Medical Center after a brief five-day illness.

Born May 11, 1924, she was the daughter of Mart and Ida Caraway Day. She was predeceased by her husband, Wade Moore and by her two sisters, Beulah Day Williams and Emily Day Slade.

She was the oldest living member of Concord Christian Church where she was an active member who attended services faithfully as long as her health permitted. She loved her church family. Her faith was important to her, and her daily Bible reading and prayer guided her life.

Each year she raised a bountiful vegetable garden, and she mowed her grass into her 90’s. She loved quilting, and she and her friends had quilting bees at her house each week for many years. She was an outstanding cook and loved to prepare meals for her family. For years she prepared a big lunch on Sunday for her family to enjoy after church. Those Sunday meals and family time are treasured memories for her family.

She was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She adored her family and wanted only the best for them. She was truly the woman of Proverbs 21.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Sanders; her son, Dennis Moore (Vickie), and her son, Chester Moore (Kimberly).

In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer (Fred), Jordan (Alex), Denise (Matt), Blake, Breanna (Steven), Cameron, Brittany (Chad), Ariel, Steven, Nick, Jeff, and Stacy and by her great grandchildren: Kailyn, Mason, Kendall, Kara, Adam, Grace, Allison, Justin, Brayden, Parker, Jacie, Shelby, Sydney, Carson, Elijah, and Joseph.

She is also survived by her special nephews and nieces: David Williams and Diane Lupton and Russell and Irene Grant. She is also survived by two dear friends, Woody and Kay Lamm.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 27 ^th at 2:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home in Alliance with Dr. Robert B. Cayton and Rev. Danny French officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Memorial Gardens in Florence if weather permits.

The family will receive friends and family at 1:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
