Mattie Edmundson Spencer

Mattie Edmundson Spencer, 91, of Merritt, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Claud & Emma McCleese Edmundson; brothers, Andrew and Jack; sister, Fonnie; and husband, Sam “S.J.” Spencer Jr.

She is survived by sons, William E. Spencer and wife, Connie, of Milton, Fl., Sam J. Spencer III and wife, Angela, of Merritt and Claud J. Spencer and wife, Cathy, of Alliance; daughter, Carolyn S. Jones and husband, Bruce, of New Bern; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 26 ^th at Concord Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Riley Green and Dr. Robert Cayton officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Bryant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Concord Christian Church c/o Diane Lupton, 4394 Florence Rd., Merritt, NC  28556.
