Mattie Pearl Wilkinson-Williamson, 95, of Arapahoe, NC, formerly from Raleigh, NC went to heaven on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Mattie Pearl was born in Silver Hill, NC to Mattie and Smith Paul on April 15, 1923.
Miss Mattie retired from the US Department of Health and Welfare working with the U.S. Bureau of Census as a Supervisory Field Representative in 1988 after 33 years of service. In May of 1987 Miss Mattie received the Bronze Medal Award for Superior Federal Service.
Miss Mattie was a past member of The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century and Daughters of The American Revolution.
Miss Mattie was a member of Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church in Bayboro, NC.
She loved her church family, her friends, her many nieces and nephews, and most of all she loved her immediate family. “Grandmur” as she was called, always had a beautiful smile and a quick hug to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Miss Mattie, Aunt Mattie Pearl, Grandmur, and Mother will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Smith Paul; three brothers; five sisters; two husbands, Johnie A. Wilkinson Sr. (33 years) and Cullen Williamson (11 years); son, Johnie A. Wilkinson Jr.; three step-sons, Don Wilkinson, Eddie Williamson and Louis Williamson.
She is survived by son, LaVon Wilkinson; daughter, Sue Wilkinson Thompson and husband, Kurt Sr.; step-daughter, Cullene Williamson Schneider and husband, Jeff; eight grandchildren, Johnie A. Wilkinson III(wife, Kerry, and 5 children), Chris Wilkinson, Ryan Wilkinson(2 children), Kelli Wilkinson, Kurt Thompson Jr. (wife, Alexandra, and 3 children), Jeff Thompson (wife, Gwyn, and 2 children), Brad Wilkinson(wife, Amy, and 1 child), Wendy Wilkinson Falkowski (husband, Rob); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family will be held at 1:00 p.m. and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 st at Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church. Close friend and pastor of Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church, Scott Fitzgerald, will officiate the service.
