Maudie Stembridge Slade, 90 of Grantsboro, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday March 16th 2024 at CarolinaEast Medical Center with her family at her bedside.
Having moved to Pamlico County as a little girl, she often told stories of her childhood with her brothers and sisters.
She was a lifelong member of Rock of Zion OFWB Church. When able, she loved to attend Sunday school, Sunday services, and Bible study. The past 3 years she wasn’t able to attend church, but she watched every Sunday on her tablet. On Wednesday mornings she loved to walk around Walmart looking for good deals. During the years her son’s raced, she was often the first in the truck for a Saturday night race. Most of all she loved to play BINGO.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike, of the home; very special person, Jenne Howard; and her son, Robert Howard; sister-in-law, Barabara Stembridge; brother-in-law, Marvin Slade; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Adolph Slade; son, Tommy Slade; mother and father, Tim and Mary Stembridge; sisters, Dorothy Cuthrell, Betty Hegloch, and Hattie Clement; brothers, William “Bud” Stembridge and Jimmy Stembridge; and father and mother-in-law, Cleo and Lizzie Slade.
Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20th at Grantsboro Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Lewis officiating.
