Mavis Powell Williams of Arapahoe got to look upon her Saviors face for the first time on December 19, 2024, at the age of 88.
A Godly woman, she was a member of Goose Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. Alongside her husband, Jack, they opened and operated Williams Seafood in Arapahoe. Mavis’s love and devotion to her family were unparalleled and her family meant the world to her. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Powell; her brother, Andrew “Jack” Fleming; her husband, John “Jack” Williams, and brother-in-law, Bruce Midyette.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Gail Faust (Paul) and Sherre Midyette (Jerry); grandchildren, James Shaffer (Amanda), Bryan Midyette (Candy), Dakota Smith (Andy), and Madison Carmen (Justin) great-grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Kallie, Aria, Jackson, Sloane, and Norah; brother, Charles Powell (Maureen); sisters, Polly Surprenant (Roger) and Cindy Midyette; sister-in-law, Jo Fleming; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Mavis’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 29th at Goose Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Cindy Midyette officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and care during her final days.
