Michael Wayne Henries, 47, of Stonewall, left this world for his heavenly home Friday, June 2, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at ECU Health Hospital in Greenville. Better known as “Pookie” to most, he will be greatly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Velma Henries and father and mother-in-law, Charles and Maxine Banks.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Stephanie Henries, of the home; two children, Serenity and Felix Henries, of the home; one brother, Richard Henries Jr., of Alliance; one brother-in-law, Willie Banks and wife, Crystal, of Stonewall; four nephews, Tanner Banks, Tucker Banks, Asher Henries, and Cooper Henries; one niece, Piper Henries; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he held very close to his heart.

Despite the obstacles he faced, he carried on each day with a smile on his face and joy in his heart. He showed love to everyone he met with kindness in his eyes and his signature smile that he was most known for. He was such a blessing and inspiration to so many by being the person he was and the grace and courage he always showed. He was a great friend to so many and he had a presence to make everyone feel better just being around him. He was kind, funny, genuine, and he loved his family. Many conversations would always lead back to them. His wife and children were his pride and joy. He grew closer to Jesus and following his father’s footsteps, he began to play the guitar and sing in church with the voice of an angel.

His memorial service will be held Thursday, June 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Bonner officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice.
